The Different Sizes of Wine Bottles

Wine bottles come in many different sizes and shapes, with most having some interesting names. Many of the large format bottles have names that derive from biblical kings. There are many theories about how wine bottle sizes came to become named this way. After much research on the theory, I came to believe that it has something to do with the "Church" controlling and spreading the practice of winemaking around the globe through out the middle ages & early 19th century.
